Henderson Family Farm
An Organic Alternative
Buyer
Beware
CAVEAT EMPTOR

You may have heard this Latin phrase at some point in your life.
But most likely you've heard it in English which is:

Buyer Beware!

I've placed this information on it's very own page
because of how I feel about this issue.

The Henderson Family Farm is "
Certified Organic".
We have worked very hard to meet the requirements for organic certification.  We
spend quite a bit of money satisfying these requirements on a continual basis.  Our
certification is on file with the market manager

and we also have a copy that we keep at our stall.

At a Farmers Market, you may hear claims like:
Homegrown ... Local ... Organic ... Pesticide free

I cannot stress enough the importance of consumer education and awareness when
buying
produce at the market.  The intent of a "Farmers Market" is to support local
agriculture
and not farmers from other states or countries.

As a consumer, before purchasing produce at the market
, remember what seasonal
produce means
.  It's very easy to get caught up with the intention of "Organics" or
"local" because of problems caused by conventional produce from China or Mexico.

My advice to everyone is this:

It's your money, ask as many questions as you want.
" If something looks too good to be true,it
just might be "

Questions regarding the country of origin or farming practices will let growers know
that you, the consumer, are concerned and want know what you are buying.
